Hour by hour
If you get the queue, the gap and the tide right. Here is the whole day, from the 5:45 line at Jagat Mandir to the flag coming down at sunset.
5:45 AM
Mangla Aarti starts at 6 and the queue forms from 5:30. There is no paid shortcut, everyone stands in the same line.
8:30 AM
Ganthiya, jalebi and fresh pedha on the steps near Swarga Dwar. The stalls open long before the bazaar does.
10:30 AM
Bhadkeshwar sits on rock in the sea. At high tide the path to it is under water, so check before you walk.
1 to 5 PM
Dwarkadhish shuts for the afternoon. Nageshwar Jyotirlinga, 17 km out, stays open straight through.
6:00 PM
Fifty two yards of cloth, forty three metres up, changed by hand at sunset. It happens twice every day.
