Swarga Dwar, literally "Gate of Heaven", is the primary entrance to Dwarkadhish Temple for all pilgrims. It faces north and opens onto the main temple road from Dwarka Station. This is where the queue forms, the locker facility is located, and the security check is conducted before entry. First-time visitors should note that you cannot enter from the south side (Moksha Dwar is exit-only) or from the Gomti Ghat side.

At Swarga Dwar, a large 98-step staircase descends toward the Gomti Ghat level, and the approach from the bazaar side is slightly uphill as you climb toward the gate. The gate itself is an ornate carved archway consistent with the temple's Chalukya architectural style. Just outside Swarga Dwar, you will find the locker counters where mobile phones, shoes, and leather items must be deposited. The charge is ₹20 to ₹40 depending on the item. Shoes are free to leave at the shoe stand, attendants are on duty throughout darshan hours.

Dwarkadhish Temple does not run any official "VIP darshan" scheme. Unlike some other major temples, such as Tirupati or Siddhivinayak, which offer paid priority-darshan counters, every pilgrim at Dwarkadhish, including elderly and disabled visitors, joins the same single queue at Swarga Dwar. General darshan has always been completely free. If you come across touts, agents, or unofficial websites near the temple or online offering a "VIP darshan pass" for a fee, they are not affiliated with the temple trust, and you should not pay them. To genuinely avoid the crowd, arrive early: Mangala Aarti is at 6:00 AM and the queue is shortest between 6:00 and 7:00 AM, especially on weekday mornings. Try to avoid October to February weekends and festival days, when the regular queue can stretch to 2–4 hours; on ordinary weekday mornings in the off-season, it typically moves within 45 minutes to 1.5 hours.

Before arriving at Swarga Dwar, a few practical preparations make the visit smoother. Dress code is strictly enforced at the entrance, no shorts, no sleeveless clothing, no revealing attire for either men or women. Dhoti-kurta or salwar-kameez is ideal; Western formal wear is also accepted as long as arms and legs are covered. The security guards at Swarga Dwar will turn away pilgrims who are not appropriately dressed, and there is no changing facility inside. There are shops selling shawls and temporary clothing near the approach road for those who arrive underprepared.

No leather items, belts, leather bags, leather wallets, leather shoes, are permitted inside the temple. Non-leather shoes must be left at the shoe stand. Leather items should ideally be left in your hotel or at the locker. Mobile phones are not allowed in the main sanctum. The locker near Swarga Dwar can hold phones, cameras, and bags for a small fee. Some pilgrims leave valuables at their hotel and arrive with only the locker ticket and a small amount of cash for prasad and donations.

The temple is open twice daily: morning from approximately 6 AM to 1 PM (closes for midday), and evening from 5 PM to 9 PM. The specific aarti timings within these windows are fixed, Mangla aarti at 6 AM opens the day, and Shayan aarti at 9 PM closes it. Arriving at least 30 minutes before your intended aarti time is recommended, as the queue builds up quickly at aarti hours.
