Varanasi Cantt, the main railway station, is much closer, around 3 km away, and is well served by trains from across the country given Varanasi's status as a major pilgrimage and tourism hub.

From either the airport or the railway station, the final stretch into the old city lanes around Vishwanath Gali narrows considerably for vehicles, so most pilgrims cover the last portion on foot or by cycle-rickshaw.
